Spain Accepts Terms
These two articles, the bottom one quite blurry, indicate that the Spanish have agreed to the terms of the American military and have formally surrendered in the Spanish American War. The relatively short war, from April-August 1898, would be one of the first major engagements of the American military at the turn into the 20th century. A successful campaign and the surrender of the Spanish forces propelled the United States military into the 20th century without a shadow of defeat. Although their competition and battlefield would not be to the same scope and severity of future conflicts, it was a positive result in a war close to home.
